joe.jpgJoe completed his high school education with ADLC several years ago. He chose ADLC because of a disability that affects his mobility. Joe has recently started his own company, Geek On Wheels, which is designed to assist people with disabilities to use technology to improve their lives.

"I have had a passion for technology ever since I was very young. This passion stemmed from the integral role that technology has played in my life. I have had a physical disability all my life, which has affected my mobility as well as my motor skills. Without the aid of technology, I wouldn't have been able to write a book report or even take notes in school. Technology has allowed me to break my mobility barriers and succeed in all areas of my life. It is this passion that drove me to start my business. I want to help others to benefit from technology as much as I have and show them how technology can benefit their lives. "

Karen is in her last year of high school with ADLC. She is working on her grade ten piano exams and is already an experienced piano teacher. She is engaged and her wedding is planned for this June. Last year, Karen worked in a medical clinic in Honduras, administering medication to children.

"My trip to Honduras with AIM in January 2004 was my first experience in a foreign mission field. The entire experience from the time of application to the moment the wheels of the plane touched down in Calgary on the return trip taught me a few things: Trust God and wait on His timing - He'll supply your needs; and no matter how huge the language barrier is, smiles, hugs and laughter are universal. It was an unforgettable, irreplaceable experience."

JennicaJennica recently completed high school with ADLC through the Newell Christian School in Ponoka. Jennica helped to build an orphanage in Mexico while she was a high school student, and she recently completed three months with Marine Reach in New Zealand.

"Bula!!!! (Fijian greeting) I have recently spent 3 months in Fiji and 2 months sailing around New Zealand. I went on this trip with an organization called Youth With A Mission, or YWAM for short. I did a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Marine Reach, the maritime arm of YWAM. During these 5 months I had lectures (in Fiji) helping me to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ, and I also had the chance to reach out and get involved in youth groups and after-school programs. We also did whatever needed doing, such as weeding some large gardens, and piling up driftwood on a beach that had been flooded. We also had many chances to work with the homeless in cities around New Zealand. Marine Reach typically goes to small, isolated islands in the South Pacific providing medical aid such as cataract surgeries, dental surgeries, and primary health care. They will also repair broken generators, sewing machines, etc.--helping the people there in any way possible, with their ship the Pacific Link. "
