General Information
Welcome to Vista Virtual School. Vista Virtual school is part of Alberta Distance Learning Centre, which has offered quality education to Albertans for more than 80 years. Our students are provided with quality accredited education that follows the Alberta curriculum. Under Alberta legislation, Vista Virtual school has the same responsibilities and funding as traditional public schools in Alberta.
VistaVirtual school offers flexible programming. Students can learn at theirown pace. However, we expect our students to complete all their coursework during the school year (Sept to June). Students are provided with individual timelines and regular contact and assistance from our teachers. We take pride in the relationships that we build with our students. Assignments are graded promptly and returned quickly withs uggestions from teachers. Students and parents can check their progress and marks on our website at any time using their own passwords. Formal report cards are given four times per year.
Each year, we host two parent-teacher-student interviews and several open houses for our students and families. We also offer field trips and cultural opportunities for our students and their families. Each June, a formal cap and gown ceremony is held for our Grade 12 graduates.
We provide a total Grade 1 to 12 education program using both print and on-line resources. We offer a Christian-based program and a French Immersion program. We also offer Work Experience and Special Projects for our high school students. We strive to meet the needs of Alberta’s students in Grades 1 to 12, both those living in Alberta and those travelling with their families.
