Individual students registered with ADLC receive instruction through print, online, or blended programs depending upon preference, need, and availability of technology. ADLC contracts with Alberta jurisdictions and/or schools to provide distance education instruction and marking to their students as well as marks submission to Alberta Education. Schools retain responsibility for students as defined by the Alberta School Act, providing appropriate learning environment, equipment, and supervision to enable efficient instruction and learning.
ADLC has found that schools with strongly facilitated distance
education programs have high student completion rates. When distance
education is viewed as another method of providing the resources
through which to learn and to meet course requirements, students
enrolled in distance education courses within schools are most often
able to achieve the goals of Alberta Education, the school, their
parents, and themselves.
