Students, schools, or jurisdictions must provide their own computers. You can use a PC or a Macintosh with Internet access and the required software; however, you may not be able to participate fully in some classes if you use a Macintosh. Requirements for PC, Macintosh, software, and Internet are listed below.
Students enrolling in online courses are expected to feel comfortable using a computer. They must create, save, and open files as well as use e-mail. Some training is available, but the more students know at the beginning of their courses, the easier the tasks will be.
If you need technical help, you are welcome to use our Tech Support webpage and our live technical support for FirstClass (our e-mail program) and D2L (our online learning platform). The Tech Support page provides some software; however, all hardware and any other software is your own responsibility.
Students taking online courses are required to submit assignments by e-mail using the FirstClass e-mail program. This program is provided to the students at no additional cost and can be downloaded and installed using instructions provided in our Tech Support webpage (the FAQ section). Passwords to access this program are provided at the time of registration.
