There used to be Matriculation or Advanced Alberta Diplomas. Currently, there is only one diploma offered in Alberta. Students wanting to attend college or university must check with the institution(s) they wish to attend to determine the required courses. While the program outlined on this page will meet the requirements for a number of different college and university level programs, it is not guaranteed to meet the requirements for any college or university program. Students needing to enter math, science, business or engineering-related programs may need to take Math 31. College and university programs are competitive and students must have the required courses and very good grades in those courses to secure admissions to many programs. Students have the responsibility to check to ensure the courses they are taking will be appropriate for the college or university program they are planning on taking.
