This is an opportunity to have questions answered, learn about new programs, and fine-tune the partnership between your school and ADLC - or begin a new partnership. Sessions will be provided in a number of streams to help each attendee get the most out of the day, and help your school succeed. Sessions are designed for administrators, teachers, facilitators, and support staff members. You are encouraged to attend any session that will assist you and your school, as a full or partial day. This session is designed for school administrators and/or staff responsible for administering distance education programs in their school and will include:

New Sr. High Math Curriculum and Courses at ADLC

ADLC will have new grade 10 courses ready to go as of Sept 1, 2010. These courses will be available for Contracted Service Partners as well as Team Teaching Partners. The session will provide a sneak peak at the print, online, and blended versions of both Math 10-C and Math 10-3, and will provide information on how ADLC is presenting the new curriculum.

Teacher Support - Hands-on

We envision this session to allow teachers to obtain a working knowledge of how to benefit from all of the positive aspects of delivering online courses. Participants will have a hands-on opportunity to work with a variety of online courses, accessing content and using online tools and features.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:

Knowledge and Employability courses: present and future

This session will present information about the online Knowledge and Employability program offered through Alberta Distance Learning. Presently, there are more than 120 schools with students enrolled at the high school level, but this number will increase as the Grade 9 courses are phased in during the 2009-2010 school year. Topics will include an explanation of the Alberta Learning Certificate of Achievement, the Team Teaching model that is used for this program, the specific courses that are available, and the role of the Team Teachers who will work with the students. Sample lessons will be viewed on screen.

School Based Facilitation

A roundtable discussion of facilitation strategies designed for teachers, assistants, and other school personnel who monitor students in a distance education classroom. Copies of the most recent ADLC Facilitators manual will be provided.

The New Social Studies at ADLC

Social Studies 30 -1 & -2 courses will be available for Sept 1, 2010. The structure and format of these two courses as well as our other high school social studies programs offer innovations and change from previous offerings in various areas such as assessment practices and content delivery. These courses are available for Contracted Service Partners as well as TT Partners. The session will allow you to preview the course enhancements and changes to ADLC high school social studies.

Designed to provide school admin & admin support greater confidence, this session looks at registrations, mark reporting & inquiries, cloning online courses and financial processes & implications. Both contracted service (ADLC does the marking) and team teaching (school does the marking) are reviewed.
